Actionable On-Page SEO Checklist

Aug 25, 2019

If you follow this list, you will have followed the most conventional white-hat On-Page SEO methods and will be favoured by Google.

There is a lot more that goes into your on-page, but this is a good place to start.

If you’re in a non-competitive industry, just by implementing these tips, you will instantly see an increase in traffic.

1. Title Tags

Title Tags are one of the first on-page elements Google checks when looking at your site. Make sure your title tag has your ideal keyword listed, ideally, at the beginning. Your title tag will make or break what you rank for, and where.

Also utilising click-bait techniques to increase your CTR will help you climb the ranks even higher.

Tips to increasing your CTR:

  1. Tip #1: Use a number in your Title
  2. Tip #2: Use emotional language
  3. Tip 3: Use Symbols

2. Meta Descriptions

Similarly, with your title tags, meta descriptions not only tell Google what that page is about, but will also assist in boosting your CTR to increase rankings.

Ideally, you want to include your keyword and some unique selling points to attract attention.

3. Image Alt Tags

Without Image Alt Tags, your images are read as code. Ensure you label all of your images and include some keywords you want to rank for to help boost search traffic.

4. Internal Linking Structure

Internal linking will help past link juice throughout your website. For example, you will find I will link to other pages within this blog to pass some of the authority on to other pages.

5. Sitemap.xml

Make sure you have a Sitemap.xml file. You can find ours here: https://constantclicks.com.au/sitemap_index.xml/

This can be generated by using most SEO plugins, we favour Rank Math.

6. Schema Markup

Schema Markup will allow you to fill the SERP’s with extra information about your page.

For example, you can implement Review schema to have your reviews put in your listing:

New to Google is FAQ Schema markup which you can read up on at Moz here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/schema-structured-data

7. Privacy Policy

Putting a link to your privacy policy within the footer of your website will help you rank better.

This shows Google that you are a trustworthy business reliable enough to list on their Search Engine.
